The High Peak lies at the centre of the M1-M62-M6 motorway network. Most of the population live and work in the western part of the district near to Greater Manchester, and access was further improved by the opening of the M60 orbital motorway around Manchester in Summer 2000.

There are frequent local services from Manchester Piccadilly to Buxton and Glossop.

The Glossop and Buxton Council Offices are 5 and 10 minutes walk away, respectively, from their local railway stations.
Regular bus services operate between Greater Manchester, Glossop and Buxton.

Manchester International Airport, the third largest airport in the UK , is only a 45 minutes drive from Glossop and Buxton. It has a full range of scheduled and cargo European and international services. There are also small airports in Derby and Sheffield.
