I was born 1940, and educated at Kent’s Bank School, Buxton. I attended Stockport College of Further Education and Salford Technical College. I did an electrical engineering apprenticeship with the Electricity Board and started my own electrical business, manufacturing control panels in 1965. Then I moved to Hazel Grove in 1979 and changed from manufacturing to the supplying of general engineering equipment. I sold the company in 2003, and I'm now semi retired, working a three-day week, still in electrical engineering.
I have a wife, two sons, two daughters-in-law and two grandchildren. I was Captain of Chapel-en-le-Frith Golf Club in 2001 and its President in 2007.
I was elected to the Borough Council in May 2007. I became a councillor because, due to my business experience, I could be useful and could put something back into society.
