Council Constitution

The Council Constitution 2007

The Council adopted its first Constitution on 14 May 2002. It is based on what is known as the Executive and Scrutiny model. This is one of three available options in the Local Government Act 2000 and was the public's choice.

The Constitution itself is in seven parts. To support it, a Guide to the Constitution has been produced. Unless you want the detail of the Constitution, we advise that you read the Guide above. The individual sections of the Constitution are long and may take some time to download.
