The Government has placed a duty on local councils to deliver services to clear standards, of a good quality and by the most economic, efficient and effective means available - this duty is known as Best Value.
The Best value framework is designed to improve local services. Councils are required to assess their own performance and put in place measures to ensure continuous improvement in all of their services.
