Whistleblowing

Raising concerns about Theft, Fraud, Corruption, etc

Whistleblowing is a process for employees, agency workers, contractors who wish to report any suspicions within the workplace. High Peak Borough Council is also committed to ensuring members of the public and suppliers can voice their concerns too.

Areas covered by whistleblowing include:

The Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998

This Act protects workers who 'blow the whistle' about wrongdoing. More details about the Act can be found here:

Concerns can be expressed anonymously but they are often more difficult to investigate. The Council will have to use its discretion to determine if enough relevant information has been provided, to determine if an investigation is warranted.

In exercising this discretion, the factors to be taken into account would include:

We recognise that you may want to raise a concern in confidence. If you ask us to protect your identity, we will not disclose it without your consent.   1. Call our confidential Fraud Hotline: 01298 28433;
  2. Email us confidentially at whistleblowing@highpeak.gov.uk;
