Leisure and Culture

Sport Relief results

We provide and support a range of sports, arts, health and physical activity and community development initiatives, and work in partnership to support and advise sports clubs, schools, arts and community organisations to promote and develop services and activities for local people.

We work closely with partners to help make the High Peak a better and healthier place to live in, and are actively involved in projects to improve community safety and reduce anti-social behaviour, improve people’s health and lifestyles and support voluntary organisations to develop and provide local services. These include:

Leisure Centres

Indoor facilities at four leisure centres - Buxton Pool, Glossop Leisure Centre, Glossop Swimming Pool and New Mills Leisure Centre - and leisure facilities in partnership at Gamesley Community and Sports Centre and Chapel-en-le-Frith Leisure Centre.

Sports Development and Outdoor Recreation

A range of sports, health, outdoor and physical activity opportunities in the High Peak, with links to groups and clubs.

Gold Card Scheme

The Council runs a Concessionary Travel Pass scheme for people who are over 60 or disabled. This covers journeys made throughout Derbyshire, and also to some places outside Derbyshire, whether by train or bus. Find out more.
