High Peak Borough Council is inviting adults of all ages and abilities to become more active and Jog Derbyshire.
Jog Derbyshire is a new countywide project, which encourages people to become fitter and more active by starting to jog on a regular basis with people of similar fitness levels. The aim is to promote doing at least half an hour of exercise a day, three times a week.
Jog Derbyshire is an established network of community based jogging groups through which anyone who is new to jogging, or has not run for a long time, can be guided through a series of gentle walking and jogging programmes led by a qualified Jog Derbyshire Leader.
Jog Derbyshire is part of the new Active Derbyshire campaign. The Active Derbyshire website has lots of ideas and advice on how you can become more active. You can also keep a record of your activity to show your progress.
Jog Derbyshire is a county initiative delivered by Derbyshire Sport and supported by Sport England, Derbyshire County PCT and England Athletics. We are an official partner of 'Run in England', England Athletics' national running network.
jog Derbyshire:
You will join a local jogging group, led by a trained Jog Leader who will guide, support and motivate you through a 10 session training program.
Some groups will be volunteer-led at no cost to you. Other groups may require a small fee per session (no more than £2) which can be paid for on a weekly basis or as a lump sum.
Jogging groups will be based in leisure centres, work places, village halls, local schools, community centres, sports clubs or anywhere else where there is enough interest.
The Jog Leader will lead members of the group through scheduled, progressive training programmes, each made up of 10-12 sessions.
Initially, most of the jogging groups set up will be beginner level groups, but as our members become fitter and our network more established, there will be a program and a jogging group to suit all levels of fitness and ability.
