Arts and Culture
There is an abundance of leisure activity in the High Peak area, much of it under the arts.
While Buxton Opera House (External website**) presents many professional productions, there are numerous local amateur operatic and dramatic groups, especially brass bands, choirs and dance groups, all adding to the performing arts activity and opportunity. See our What's On Guide.
There are also visual arts and literary events, thriving alongside arts societies, writers' groups and photography, film and floral arts clubs.
The Council supports all such activities when we can.
