Allotments

High Peak Borough Council’s Park Service currently manages and rents out two allotment sites in Buxton and Glossop. These are:

Allotment

Plots vary in size although most are around 300 sq yard (full sized plot). We are currently looking to split larger allotments as and when they become vacant to increase availability.

Only people who are resident in the High Peak can now apply for an allotment.

You can apply online using the application form below. Please remember that the waiting lists are long for both these sites and there could be a long wait before one becomes available. You will be contacted when a plot becomes available.

Rent is payable annually in April/May unless other arrangements have been made. The Terms and Conditions upon which Allotments are let are below:

Allotment holders, whether new or existing, will find the following guide useful. Plot Holders Guide (6MB) PDF document

Self Managed Allotment Sites

There are also 6 allotment sites, which are managed on behalf of the Council by allotment associations who have their own terms and conditions. These are:

Please contact the Secretary/Clerks listed for information about applying for an allotment at one of these sites.

Private and Parish Council Sites

There are also sites wholly owned by parish and town councils, such as Chapel-en-le-Frith, Chinley, Hayfield (External websites**) and New Mills and private sites, such as Whitfield in Glossop.

New Mills Allotment Association have their own web site, which contains useful information on the site and how to apply. Their web address is: www.newmillsallotments.org.uk. (External website**)

Allotment Projects

Allotments are extremely popular and in parts of the High Peak such as Glossopdale, the Council has been working with local groups to find land to create more allotments. Three small sites in Glossop, Hadfield & Gamesley have recently received planning permission.

It is hoped that if lease agreements can be completed with the owners of land & the allotment groups, who would manage the sites, work will start soon on preparing the land in order to create up to up to 10 new allotments on each site.

If you would like to be considered for one of these allotments you should contact the following:
