Howard Park, Glossop

This picturesque Victorian park is situated at the northern end of the town of Glossop within its own Conservation Area. It is particularly suited to quiet enjoyment, taking in the stunning views and vistas and ornamental lake. The park is also complimented by the beautiful Victorian baths building which is home to Glossop Pool. Facilities in the park include the following:

Howard Park

Car parking, which is shared with the Pool, is signposted from Dinting Road, and the park is also served by bus stops along Dinting Road.

Green Flag

The park was awarded the Green Flag in 2006, which it has successfully retained in 2007, 2008 and 2009. The award, which sets quality standards for parks and open spaces, is assessed an annual basis and Howard Park will be entered again this year.

Friends of Howard Park

The park benefits from a committed Friends group who have been working to support the park for the last 4 years. The Friends group are involved in a variety of activities including, organising and running events in the park, particularly their annual Carols in the Park event, practical planting activities, working with local schools to encourage educational opportunities in the park, and fundraising. The group meet on a monthly basis.

Events in Howard Park

The Council’s Parks Section provides space in several of its Parks and Open Spaces for external organisations to put events. We can also offer advise on safety and other issues relating to an event.
