Memorial Park, Whaley Bridge

This important park is central to the town of Whaley Bridge, and is the only recreational open space in the area. Abounded by the River Goyt, the park sits on the edge of the Peak District National Park and provides an important green link for local residents to the town centre and local schools, as well as much needed recreational facilities for the local community. The park provides the following facilities:

Heritage Lottery Fund Bid

In September 2008, a Parks for People bid was submitted to the Heritage Lottery Fund to enable a variety of physical improvements to be undertaken in the park, and which has been widely supported by the local community. Stage 1 approval has been given by the HLF and a stage 2 application is now being developed.

Documents relating to the bid can be viewed below, however, please note that these details were for the stage 1 submission and as such are subject to change.
