The park obtained the prestigious Green Flag award as a first in Derbyshire in 2005, and has successfully retained the award since. The award, which sets quality standards for parks and open spaces, is assessed an annual basis and Pavilion Gardens will be entered again this year. In 2006 a Heritage Conservation plan was developed and this resulted in a Green Heritage Award for the park in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. It is hoped that this will be successful in 2010.

The park also has a 5 year Management Plan, incorporating the Heritage Conservation Plan, which can be viewed below.
