The Hayfield Angling Club (External website**) was established in 1962, when three stretches of waters were rented to provide fishing for local anglers. Since then, we have purchased three local waters and obtained sole fishing rights on other waters.
Our membership comes mainly from Derbyshire, Cheshire and Lancashire. Our members are encouraged to provide input for our newsletters, which are sent out when required. Membership year runs from January 1st to December 31st.
Work parties are held at regular intervals between March and September – the dates and venues are shown in our membership card. Members are requested to attend at least one work party per year, for which they will be allowed to fish our waters all year round. Our Waters include:
Kinder Lodge (pictured above right) is a very picturesque 1.21 acre water, which we own. Safe parking is available at the water. Stocks include common and mirror carp, roach, rudd, perch, bream and the odd tench.
This is a two-mile stretch of a small river, which contains small wild brown trout. Part of the river runs alongside our water at Kinder Lodge and runs downstream through Hayfield village.
There are two small waters, which we own, situated in a quiet secluded valley. Safe parking is adjacent to the water. Stocks of fish include common and mirror carp, roach, perch, bream and the odd tench.
We have fishing rights on one bank, of about half a mile, of this river, which is situated in a very quiet and picturesque setting. The main quarry on this river are brown trout and grayling – which may be fished by any method, subject to Environment Agency rules – although the odd barbel and chub have been caught on our stretch in recent years. A brown trout of 6lb 3oz has been caught on our stretch and returned to the water. This water gives excellent grayling fishing in the winter months.
On certain days, you will see steam trains pass on the opposite bank of the river. These are operated by the Peak Rail Preservation Railway.
These waters are three small farm pools, which contain mirror carp, common carp, crucian carp, bream, roach, rudd, perch and tench. Safe parking is available.
