There are currently two sports forums operating in the High Peak in both the Buxton and Glossop areas. We are also looking to establish a third in the central area in the near future. Sports forums are open to anyone in the High Peak involved in sport and provide an environment to learn more about what is happening in your local area.
The forums are of particular interest to local clubs that can learn about issues such as Coach Education, sports funding, school-club links, charter standard (club mark), and volunteering. The forums provide a chance to meet with other clubs to share ideas and best practice as well as meet local sports professionals such as sports development officers, school sport partnership manager, and community sport development officer who can all offer advice on sports issues.
Please follow the links below to find out information on your local forum and how to get involved.
Buxton Sports Forum has recently relaunched its self with a view to engage more local clubs and highlight the importance of sport in the area. Several local clubs met with representatives from High Peak Borough Council to discuss how a forum can be of benefit to clubs by providing information on coach education, funding, club accreditation and much more.
All local clubs and sports organisations are welcome to attend and find out more information on the forum. There will be a presentation on the benefits of sports forums by Community Sports Development Office Emma Champion, who has successfully developed the Glossopdale Sports Forum over the last four years.
For more information on the forum, please contact Chris Nightingale by calling 0845 129 77 77/01298 28400 or email chrisnightingale@highpeak.gov.uk.
Glossopdale Sport and Recreation Forum is a partnership forum made up of several organisations who have the joint aim of developing sport and physical activity opportunities in the Glossopdale area for people of all ages and abilities. The forum meets every 3 months at St Philip Howard Sports College and is administrated through the Community Sports Development Officer based at the school. The group has developed into an excellent environment for networking amongst clubs and provides useful information on club development.
Please click on the logo on the right to visit the Glossopdale Sport and Recreation Forum home page (external website**) and access the latest minutes and dates of future meetings.
High Peak Borough Council working with key partners in the area are looking to establish a central area sports forum to cover Chapel-en-le-Frith, New Mills, and Whaley Bridge. The forum will aim to provide a networking environment for local sports clubs and people involved in sport to share best practice and get up to date information on sport.
