Job Summary
To coach sport and recreation activities assigned to you by the Community Sports
Coordinator or other member of the sports development team.
Relationships
- Responsible to: Community Sports Co-ordinator
- Responsible for: Participants, Assistant Coaches.
- Important internal relationships: Community Leisure officer, Sports Development Officer, Contract Manager, Site staff
- Important external relationships: Schools, Sports Clubs, Voluntary Organisations, Parents, Young People, Customers.
Main duties and responsibilities
- To plan structured coaching sessions appropriate to the participants.
- To ensure that the activity within each session offers progressive development towards defined goals.
- To deliver sport and recreation activities in accordance with guidelines laid down by the appropriate National Governing Body of the sport or activity;
- To ensure that all sessions/activities take place in a safe environment with due regard to Health and Safety recommendations.
- To demonstrate knowledge of accident, incident, and emergency procedures.
- To carry out administration tasks, including handling of monies.
- To report accident and incidents.
- To be responsible for the collection and care of sports equipment.
- To ensure equity in sport and promote fair play.
- To promote exit routes to individuals whenever possible.
- To promote the work and image of the sports development scheme by always maintaining high standards of personal appearance and adopting a friendly, professional approach to the public.
- To carry out any other duties, as may be assigned.
Performance
The effectiveness with which the post holder performs their duties will be measured by coaching scheme monitoring and evaluation procedures.
