Primary school children from across the Borough were treated to a sporting extravaganza on 10 July 2007, when they took part in the annual High Peak Games.
This was a partnership event, organised by High Peak Borough Council’s Sports Development Team, High Peak School Sport Partnership, Buxton Community School, St Philip Howard School and Chapel-en-le Frith High School - where the event took place.
The children competed in teams representing Buxton, Chapel-en-le-Frith, New Mills, Glossop and Hope Valley - they took part in the following events:

High Peak’s brand new Dance Community Sports Coach did a warm-up for all the competitors.
There were also come and try it events, which included problem solving games (run by High Peak’s Outdoor Community Sports Coach), table tennis and sports hall athletics.
High Peak Radio compered the event.
Among the spectators was England Lacrosse player Tom Williamson.
There was a draw for the overall winners - between Buxton and New Mills.
Buxton team won the Fair Play Award, for the most outstanding sporting behaviour throughout the day.
High Peak Mayor, Councillor Jean Wharmby, and Executive Member for Social & Community Development, Councillor Andrew Bingham, presented medals to the winning teams.
