Glossop Judo Club

Glossop Judo Club was formed in February 2005 to provide the sport of Judo to the people of Glossop and the surrounding areas.

Club Coaches Steve Phillips and Geoff Ham are both British Judo Association qualified coaches and applied for lottery funding through "sport for all" for the purchase of top quality judo mats, receiving the £5,000 required.

The club meets on Mondays and Thursdays at St Philip Howard School, Glossop and provides coaching in three classes, 5-8yr olds, 9-16yrs and adults.

Judo is accessible to players of all ages, both sexes and to people with disabilities. As a sport it has much to offer, including developing physical and mental coordination, keeping fit and having fun. Through judo, children can learn self-discipline, respect for themselves and for others, self-confidence, concentration, and balance.
