The facility comprises the all-weather MUGA (Multi-Use Games Area), which has floodlighting by arrangement, and a disabled access-compliant Sports Pavilion, with on-site car parking.
It is at the Memorial Park (upper level). Vehicular access is via Macclesfield Road, Reddish Road and Park Road. Follow the signposts.
Contact Whaley Bridge Town Council on 01663 733068 (during office hours Monday to Friday, 9am-12.30pm) or whaleybridgetowncouncil@supanet.com for casual (ie one-off) or block bookings.
The previous small pavilion had become unfit for continued use. The local football team, Whaley Bridge FC that plays in the Hope Valley Football League, approached the Town Council to see if a modern pavilion could be provided. High Peak Borough Council (owners of Memorial Park) took the lead in asking Sport England for funding for a new pavilion and other facilities, with contributions from the Borough and Town Councils and the football club. After several years of protracted negotiations, the funding for the project was approved, and the new facility opened in late 2002. Its ownership was transferred to the Town Council. There is a Management Committee representing the users, the Whaley Bridge Sports Association and the two Councils.
