Hope Valley College Multi Use Games Area & Development

Back in 2003, Hope Valley College, with the support of officers from the High Peak Sports Development team, successfully gained New Opportunities Fund (NOF) funding for the development of a floodlit multi use games area at the college - this was completed at the end of October 2004.

To support the development of wider community use at the site, NOF revenue funding was granted to employ 1 full-time and 1 part-time Community Sports Development Officer. From 1 November the new officers have been working with the local clubs, community groups and schools to develop sporting activity and opportunities in the Hope Valley area.

High Peak's Sports Development Officer is a member of the management steering group which manages the work of the new officers and will be working very closely with them. This will ensure a united approach to the development of opportunities.

The team are currently working on an action plan set around the 6 NOF key aims:

  1. Improved physical education and sport in schools
  2. Higher standards across the whole school through PE, sport and other forms of structured activity
  3. Better opportunities to increase the levels of physical activity among the school age population and, more generally, local communities
  4. Improved collaboration, co-operation and partnership between schools and their communities
  5. Promotion of social inclusion through access to, and use of, sports and outdoor adventure facilities by all groups in society
  6. Innovation and best practice in the management of facilities
