We provide a removal service for abandoned vehicles. Abandoned vehicles on the highway should also be reported to the Police (phone 0845 123 3333). Residents wishing to dispose of vehicles should contact local scrapyards and vehicle dismantlers. An officer will inspect the vehicle within 24 hours and try and trace the owner. If no owner can be traced and the vehicle is deemed abandoned, an abandoned vehicle notice will be issued. Once investigations are complete, the vehicle will be removed within 24 hours. This will usually be within 14 days of the enquiry.
There is no charge made to the person reporting an abandoned vehicle, or to owners of private land, where the vehicle has been dumped. If the owner is traced, then the cost for the removal and storage can be charged to the owner.
