Any household in the High Peak can be more energy efficient through some very simple things, such as turning off the lights when leaving a room, not leaving the TV and video recorder on standby, taking a shower instead of a bath which uses far less energy and water, or choosing the most energy efficient products available for your home. We have some useful links here to help you get started and to review energy efficiency in your own households, including how to get grants to make your home more energy efficient.
High Peak Borough Council has worked together with Derbyshire Dales District Council and other partners to produce the Affordable Warmth Strategy, which is downloadable here:
This is a government-funded initiative to help make your home warmer, healthier and more energy-efficient. The Warm Front Grant Scheme (External website**) provides a package of insulation and heating improvements up to the value of £2,700 (or £4,000 if oil central heating is recommended). The scheme is managed by eaga plc (formerly the Energy Action Grant Agency). You may be eligible for a grant under the Warm Front Scheme if you own your own home or rent it from a private landlord.
