Environmental Health

Our Environmental Health team actively strives to protect and enhance the health of our community and to improve the well-being of the High Peak, by proactively and efficiently responding to potential health and nuisance concerns.

labradorDog Control and Animal welfare
Our dog wardens deal with stray and lost dogs. The Council strives actively to prevent dog fouling on public land.
We also inspect and license pet shops, kennels, catteries and animal boarding, horse riding establishments, premises for dangerous and wild animals and zoos.
FloodingDrainage and Flooding
We can advise on the maintenance of sewers and ensure that relevant parties are informed of their responsibilities. Water running off public roads, causing flooding, will normally be dealt with by Derbyshire County Council (External website**).
We provide general flooding advice for High Peak residents.
chickenFood Safety
We register food premises, provide advice to food business operators, inspect food premises, and provide training courses for food handlers to basic and intermediate level.
Shattered LivesHealth and Safety
We enforce Health and Safety in work and leisure premises, and investigate accidents at such locations. We can provide Health and Safety training courses. Please enquire from Customer Services – email customer-services@highpeak.gov.uk or phone 0845 129 77 77 or 01298 28400.

The Council works to protect the local environment, this includes Air Quality; Contaminated Land; Domestic and Industrial noise nuisance; Permitted Industrial Processes; Private Water Supplies; Radon; Smoke Control Areas and Other Statutory Nuisances.
