The Council has a role to play in all forms of housing within the High Peak. Not only does it own the 4,200 Council homes within the Borough, it also has strong powers to influence conditions in the private sector. Through its planning powers, the Council also has control over any new housing development outside of the National Park, and increasingly makes sure that such schemes include some affordable housing.
