The Homebuy Scheme within High Peak
Eligibility for the scheme is based on the following criteria:
- Applicants must have a local connection to High Peak, such as
- Have been living in the Borough of High Peak for at least the last three months;
- Have been living in the Borough for at least four years out of the last 10 years;
- Have been employed in the Borough for at least three months;
- Are aged 60 years or over, and have close relatives, who have been living in the Borough for the last three months and are willing to provide support;
- Are a serving member of the HM Forces – or have a partner who is a serving member of the HM Forces – and either person has previously lived permanently in the Borough;
- Are a serving member of HM Forces with a firm offer of employment within the Borough; or
- Have been accepted for assistance by High Peak Borough Council, under the homelessness provision of the Housing Act 1996 – as amended by the Homelessness Act 2002.
- Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they are financially unable to purchase a property on the open market.
- The scheme is not normally open to people who are already homeowners.
In addition, if there is a high demand for the scheme, applicants will be prioritised on the basis of housing need.
