Home Options

High Peak Community Housing (External website**) manages the housing register and council housing, on behalf of High Peak Borough Council.

Since March 2007, we have completely changed the way council housing is allocated and have changed from a points system to a banding system. All properties are now advertised on the choice based letting system called Home-Options. Home-Options gives more choice about where you want to live. In the past, the Council or landlord decided where and when you would be offered a home. Now you have the chance to choose.

Every fortnight, Home-Options produces a free property sheet, which advertises most of the available Council and Housing Association homes. You can look at the advertisements and decide whether you want to be considered for any of the properties. You express your interest in properties by making a bid for them.

Priority Bands

When you register for Home-Options, you will be assessed and placed into one of four bands.

When bids are considered for advertised properties, priority will be given to bids from people in the highest priority band. If people from the same band bid for the same property, the person with the earliest priority date will be considered first.

You need to make sure that you are registered on the Home-Options system to be considered for any Affordable Housing scheme that may be developed in the future.
