The Benefits Section is committed to paying Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit to genuine customers, who are entitled. We are therefore also committed to preventing and detecting fraudulent claims for benefit and need to be aware of any potential inaccuracies.
We have an anti-fraud strategy to prevent frauds occurring from the outset, and to investigate cases where there may be fraudulent activity during any current claim. There is also a prosecution policy to punish offenders, where appropriate.
