The Environmental Health Service is the enforcement agency for housing standards in the private sector, which includes owner/occupied properties, as well as privately rented accommodation. In addition, officers work in partnership with landlords and external agencies to encourage provision of additional affordable rented accommodation,and improve living conditions in existing rented accommodation. Under this policy, you may be able to apply for a Decent Homes Grant, if you receive a qualifying benefit.
