Car parks and transport
We manage and maintain public car parks in all of the Borough's main towns and also in the Hope Valley. Car park operating times are 8am to 6pm and overnight parking is permitted in the Sylvan coach park and the Edale, Castleton and Hope village car parks. While overnight parking is allowed, customers must leave their vehicles and not sleep in them. Pay and display is required every day including bank holidays, pay and display tickets are not transferable between vehicles but are transferable between High Peak Borough Council car parks. We also manage on-street car parking schemes in Castleton and Buxton on behalf of Derbyshire County Council. Season tickets for council car parks are available.
Motorhomes - there are no designated spaces for this type of vehicle. Smaller examples may park in the car parks, where height barriers allow, but will need to purchase and display two Pay & Display tickets if encroaching onto two bays (if you are in doubt about encroachment then please err on the side of caution and buy two tickets). Larger motorhomes should use the coach parks and pay the coach price and drivers will need to contact Customer Services to give the vehicle registration number and the date of the visit to gain permission.
We do not have specific motorcycle bays in our car parks, motorcycles need to park in a marked parking bay and pay the vehicle charge as shown on the tariff board. If more than one motorcycle is parked in the bay only one pay and display ticket would need to be bought, we would advise owners to carry the ticket with them and produce it should they be issued a Penalty Charge Notice.
There are also several other car parks in the Borough not operated by us. The majority of the 26 car parks are pay and display car parks. There are 120 disabled parking spaces. Information about the free bus scheme in Derbyshire is also available in this section.
