Local Economic Partnership

Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire (D2N2) Local Economic Partnership (LSP)

Background

The Coalition Government announced that the Regional Development Agencies, including the East Midlands Development Agency (emda) would be abolished in April 2012.

In order to ensure that business still receive the vital support, funding and assistance it requires, Business Secretary Vince Cable and Communities and Local Government Secretary Eric Pickles, invited areas to be put forward for the formation of Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs). These organisations to be chaired by business in partnership with upper tier Local Authorities and Universities.
