Don't lose your voice: Get the X-factor instead!

WITH a by-election likely in Buxton Central on Thursday, March 29, residents have been urged to ensure they do not lose their right to vote.
The plea was made this week by High Peak Borough Council, which pointed out that the deadline for registering to vote was 5pm on Wednesday, March 14 and that anyone registering after that date would not be able to vote in the by-election.
Voter registration forms can be obtained from the elections team on 0845 129 7777 ext. 2133 or by downloading a form from the About my Vote website at www.aboutmyvote.co.uk. Alternatively, click here for more information on regstering to vote.
Completed forms should be posted to Electoral Services, High Peak Borough Council, Municipal Buildings, Glossop, Derbyshire, SK13 8AF or handed in at the same address.
Anyone wanting to vote by post also has until 5pm on Wednesday, March 14 to apply. Application forms are again available from the elections team or from the About my Vote website.
Electors wanting someone to vote for them must ensure that their proxy vote application form has been received by 5pm on Wednesday, March 21.
The council will know by Friday (March 2) if an election is needed to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of borough councillor Philip Ashmore. Midday on Friday is the deadline for the return to Glossop Municipal Buildings of nomination papers. If more than one nomination is received, an election will take place.
Polling would take place between 7am and 10pm in St. Anne’s Parish Centre, Hardwick Square West, Buxton.
