Extension of scheme to further encourage new market traders
HIGH PEAK Borough Council is extending its scheme of offering first-time traders on its markets a ready erected trestle stall, for a day, for ten pounds, until 31st January 2013.
Portfolio holder for Regeneration Cllr. Godfrey Claff said “Following the recent national ‘Love your Local Market’ fortnight promotion, we have now extended this scheme into the new year. This offer invites both traders who haven’t stood before in High Peak and first-timers looking to try their hand, to ‘Buy and Try’ and join us on the Borough’s markets for ten pounds”.
The December 2011 Mary Portas Review highlighted the declining state of the nation’s High Streets and markets, at the changing ways we all shop now and the challenges facing town centres across the country.
The council’s ‘Buy and Try’ scheme is part of a long-term High Peak programme designed to meet these new challenges and to help support and rejuvenate the Borough’s markets. The programme seeks to attract and encourage new and first time traders and to better promote different themed markets across High Peak.
Applicants will need to supply their own mandatory Public Liability Insurance for the day. Stalls and dates are subject to availability and terms and conditions.
To apply for a stall, please email your full name, address and telephone contact details and what you would like to sell to: markets@highpeak.gov.uk
