Submitted: 22nd October 2012

Half-term fun will take on a Halloween theme at leisure centres in New Mills and Glossop next week.

Run by DC Leisure for High Peak Borough Council, the centres are laying on a week-long programme of activities with a Halloween party for youngsters aged six and over on Wednesday October 31 among the highlights.

Youngsters can enjoy a fun introduction to Zumba especially adapted for over sevens at Zombie Zumbatronic on Monday October 29 or learn a new routine at Cobweb Cheerleading on Thursday November 1 in New Mills. Meanwhile Glossop Leisure Centre is offering pumpkin carving on Monday October 29 followed by a Halloween Party on the Wednesday with fun and games and prizes for the best costumes.

Running alongside this is a week of sports coaching run by UK Sports Coaching at New Mills and lots of chances for youngsters to let off steam through gymnastics, football, netball and swimming. Prices vary with sessions starting at £1.50  and Glossop Swimming Pool is offering a half-term children’s pass allowing unlimited swimming for the whole of half term including giant inflatable sessions for only £10.

Anthony Mckeown the borough’s executive member for community services said “Whilst the weather this October half term may be bleak, our leisure centres and pools across the High Peak, will have a range of activities that not only can keep you fit but will be fun as well.”
