Pavilion Gardens goes football crazy!

THE Octagon Hall in Buxton’s Pavilion Gardens is to screen all England’s Euro 2012 group games.
The trio of fixtures starts on Monday, June 11 with a mouth-watering clash with traditional adversaries France, followed by matches against Sweden on Friday, June 15 and Ukraine the following Tuesday. The France and Sweden games kick off at 5pm, with the final fixture starting at 7.45pm.
The matches will be shown on a huge 20ft screen – the largest in Buxton – and the hall will be laid out with tables and chairs for up to 500 fans, High Peak Borough Council revealed this week.
Doors will open an hour before kick off, and entry will be free of charge.
Ian Huddlestone, executive councillor for regeneration, said: “When we televised England’s group games in the World Cup two years ago, every game sold out so I would urge fans to get to the Octagon as soon as possible after doors open.
“By televising the group games, we’re hoping to provide family-friendly events in a safe, welcoming environment. I’ve no doubt that football fans old and young will turn out in force – just like they did for the World Cup”, he added.
An express food point in the neighbouring Octagon Lounge will sell tasty snacks including burgers, hotdogs and chips.
Under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
