Regeneration in New Mills

Regeneration in New Mills 2011

The continued regeneration of New Mills is now being managed in a new way as the changing regeneration landscape and the emergence of new Local Enterprise Partnerships, mean that the future of regeneration will be limited to key strategic projects, which have maximum impact for communities. It was therefore agreed that the Regeneration Partnership, first established in 2004 with support from the Market Town Initiative, would cease at the end of 2010.

In its place, the three Councils (Derbyshire County Council, High Peak Borough Council and New Mills Town Council) together with voluntary sector organisations, will meet twice a year to review challenges, opportunities and progress on agreed larger scale strategic projects if applicable.

The work of New Mills Partnership 2004-2010

Background

New Mills Town Partnership was set up in 2004, with support from the Market Town Initiative, to develop and promote New Mills as an attractive and thriving town, offering a unique visitor experience. A part time officer supported the partnerships work until April 2007. Since then, the Town Council and Borough Council have been working directly with local groups to develop projects and fund physical enhancements - often supported by Conservation grants - and create initiatives to support the towns residents and retailers.
