Area Forums - High Peak residents making local decisions that matter!

What are Area Forums?

Area Forums are a joint initiative between High Peak Borough Council, Derbyshire County Council and the Peak District National Park Authority to ensure that local people are better informed about how local services are run, and to allow residents to get more involved in making decisions.

Local councillors and senior representatives from the local authorities, the Police, Primary Care Trusts and other key local organisations, attend the meetings, debate on crucial topics and answer questions from residents face-to-face. Local people have the opportunity to influence decisions about their own areas by joining in this debate.

There are four Area Forums:

These meetings are open to everybody living or working in the High Peak.

How do they work?

Each meeting concentrates on a topic of particular concern to local communities in that area, initially chosen from priority issues brought up at consultation meetings in spring 2005. These topics included:

All residents, local organisations and businesses are invited to attend, but it is requested that any specific questions are submitted before the meeting.

Each session will have a Question Time that will provide you with an opportunity to raise any issues that you may have. These questions and answers will be posted on our website.

Area Forums will only work if local people and businesses come along. Get yourself heard -say it at your Area Forum meetings!

Area Forum Meeting Dates

Meetings are held three times a year. If you have any comments about the forums, please contact the Policy Team at policy@highpeak.gov.uk.
