Purpose of Area Forums and Terms of Reference
1. Objectives
- To give local people a greater say and influence in delivering public services.
- To provide a forum for local consultation and communication.
- To develop councils’ community leadership role.
2. Terms of Reference
- To consider matters of local concern in the area, whether referred to the Forum by individuals or organisations, or put forward by the Forum itself.
- To have a ‘power of recommendation’ to the statutory organisations.
- To influence the development of the Community Strategy, corporate plans and service plans of the statutory organisations.
- To be consulted on significant activities, policies and plans of a local or borough-wide nature that affect the area.
- To be held in public.
- To be chaired by elected Members of High Peak Borough Council or Derbyshire County Council (with the exception of the Hope Valley Area Forum, chaired by the Chair of the Peak District National Park Authority).
- Venue for meetings to be moved around different communities in the area, subject to the availability of suitable, accessible premises
