Buxton Vision

Buxton Vision

Background Information

Vision Buxton was formed in November 2005, after the merger of the Buxton Business Forum and the Buxton Partnership.

Vision Buxton now represents 150 members or organisations who employ nearly 5000 people within the Buxton area.
Vision Buxton’s objectives include:

• Working towards the needs and ambitions of businesses and organisations;
• Identifying improvements to the town and developing implementation strategies;
• Improving Buxton’s reputation, both locally, regionally and nationally;
• Strengthening the economy of Buxton and surrounding area;
• Improving communication between the public sector, local businesses and community organisations;
• Offering support to businesses and the local community;
• Attracting investment and funding for the town; and
• Delivering high quality services and standards.

Achievements

Bill Preece, of Vision Buxton, who developed a press publicity pack and led two weekends for journalists to visit Buxton (in May and Oct 2006), said, “The aim of the press visits is to generate positive national media coverage. It is hoped the project will help to draw attention to the town and attract tourism and business to Buxton.”

Actions for 2007-2008 and further information

• New visitor information boards and maps will be installed at car parks by High Peak Borough Council.
• New mini guide to shops and services in Higher Buxton are being developed and funded by High Peak Borough Council.
