Glossop Vision

Glossop Town Centre Public Realm Works

Glossop Town Centre has recently been upgraded thanks to the Glossop Vision Regeneration Programme. The completion of the town centre improvement scheme is the culmination of an investment in excess of £2.9million in the town centre and surrounding areas. The scheme aimed to:

Glossop bus station and steps

The construction of a new stairway (in the photo on the right and below) at Henry Street has improved pedestrian access, leading people between the station and post office to Norfolk Square. New retaining walls railings and an attractive seating area have also helped enhance this area, while the inclusion of bespoke decorative lighting helps create an attractive night time scene.

Future Plans

In 2009-2011, High Peak Borough Council continues to work with Glossop Vision to improve the appearance of the town centre through the Glossop townscape Heritage initiative, is committing funding to purchase new Christmas street lighting and is working to further develop plans to regenerate the Glossop Town Hall and Indoor market.

Glossop Vision Board Meetings

The Glossop Vision Board's objectives are to promote the economic development, regeneration and well being of the people of Glossop and improve the environment of Glossop for the benefit of those who live, work or visit Glossop and it's environs. Meetings are held bi-monthly and members of the public are welcome to attend as observers.
