The implementation of these schemes marks stage three of the Glossop Vision Masterplan process. The creation of the Glossop Vision Master Plan in 2004 delivered a vision for the town to be implemented over the next 15 years, identifying key areas of the town where improvements would make a real difference. The plan proposed improvements along the length of the A57 and Glossop Brook, aiming to improve the pedestrian experience through the town, improving walking and cycling routes.
Stage 2 of the process assessed and prioritised the projects identified in the Masterplan, using a number of criteria, including public interest and desirability. High levels of support were shown for projects relating to the High Street, the Station forecourt and park areas, and these areas were selected as the focus for investment using Liveability funding.
Improvement works have also been carried out at Manor park with the installation of new play equipment and skatepark area, the resurfacing of the car park and river engineering works.

Improvements at Smithy Fold (pictured below) have helped to create a historic link through the town centre. The re-laying of existing setts and the inclusion of two natural stone cart tracks ensure Smithy Fold is accessible to all, and add to the historic atmosphere of the town.
