Gamesley anniversary celebrations

Date: 13/09/2005

Gamesley residents are being invited to a special Fun Day on Saturday 17 September.

The event has been organised by Gamesley Community Centre Partnership, Gamesley Residents Association, High Peak Community Housing and Gamesley on the Go. It will coincide with the first anniversary of the re-furbished Gamesley Community Centre.

The fun-packed activities will start on Winster Mews at 11 am and continue until 4 pm. Events will then run from 5 pm until 10.30 pm at Gamesley Community Centre.

During the day at Winster Mews, the Gamesley Residents Association will be running a car boot sale from 11 am. At 12.30 the Mayor of High Peak will officially open the Fun Day which includes: a magic show, a 1940's sing-a-long, children's face painting, stalls, a fancy dress competition, a bouncy castle and much more. All of the activities are free.

From 5pm to 7pm the Community Centre will be providing: free trampolining, a tug of war competition, welly throwing for all the family, a penalty shoot out and egg and spoon races.

There will be a family disco from 7 pm to 10.30 pm for just £2.00 admission per family. The fun outside will also continue into the evening with trampolining and fun fair rides.

Refreshments will be available throughout the day.

Councillor John Pritchard, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Member for Community and Social Development, said: "Congratulations to all those who have made the Gamesley Community Centre such a success since it re-opened a year ago. The Fun Day sounds terrific, and shows yet again how the hard work done by all the community makes the centre such a success."

Gamesley Community Centre is a smoke free zone. All children must be accompanied during the family disco night.
