A brand new indoor leisure centre at Temple Fields is favoured by 49% of respondents who took part in a recent public consultation about the future of Buxton's leisure facilities.
High Peak Borough Council conducted the consultation, which investigated the views of 20,000 households, current Buxton pool users and authoritative bodies throughout the Buxton area.
The questionnaire outlined four options for the development of new leisure facilities in and around the Buxton town centre. A total of 3479 surveys were returned with following results to the 4 options:
Members will now be discussing the results and considering the next stage in developing Buxton's indoor leisure facilities.
Councillor John Pritchard, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Member for Community and Social Development, said: "I want to thank everyone who took the time to complete the consultation forms, and express their views. Statistically, it is quite clear that a new centre at Temple Fields is by far the favoured option at this stage."
