St. Philip Howard Catholic School will be opening the doors to everyone when it hosts a sports clubs and activities fair on its community day, this Tuesday 11 July.
The fair, which starts at 5 pm and finishes at 9 pm, celebrates the school's new status as a sports college. It forms part of a weeklong celebration of sport at the school. The aim of the community day is to share information on what sport and physical activities are available in Glossopdale.
The fair will offer information on a variety of sporting activities in the Glossopdale area, including: sailing, table tennis, cricket, rugby, roller hockey, hockey, football, tennis, badminton and holiday activities. There will also be news about coaching and leadership. The event is free and is open to anyone all ages and abilities.
During the school day, a selection of community sports clubs are delivering sessions in a variety of activities including judo, roller hockey, cricket and rugby to every student in the school to give them a taster of sports available in Glossopdale.
Councillor John Pritchard, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Member for Community and Social Development, said: "The council's sports development team supported the school's bid for sports college status, so I am really pleased to see this celebratory event take place. If you are sat at home wondering what sport you would like to get involved in, come along to the sports fair and have a look at all the choices available."
