Young people in the Peak District and High Peak will soon have the opportunity to go online to find an exciting variety of information on a brand new website that's been developed especially for them.
The website has been produced in partnership with High Peak Borough Council and the Peak District National Park Authority after both organisations consulted with local people who asked for more services for young people and information on activities and events in the High Peak. The website has also been designed in close collaboration with young people living in the local area who had a good knowledge of what the website should include.
The website (www.sourceofthepeak.co.uk) provides information on 'what's on'; jobs and training; learning and development; health advice; and much more. The site is being launched this week on Wednesday 19 July at the Central Area Forum to be held at Whaley Bridge Uniting Church (7-9pm, light refreshments available from 6.45pm) where the topic for the evening will be 'Provision for Young People'.
Jim Dixon, Chief Executive for Peak District National Park Authority said: 'The website is a great way for young people to find out about what is on offer in the Peak District National Park and also provides a service that young people, living in the National Park and surrounding towns and villages, felt was needed. We are really pleased with this achievement and it is great that we are meeting young people's expectations!"
Councillor John Pritchard, Executive Member for Community and Social Development said: "We are really pleased with the final result which is an exciting website that will be of great value to young people. We're now looking for enthusiastic young volunteers to meet regularly and have an input into the managing and monitoring of the site which will be a great opportunity for them to learn new skills, make new friends and help develop a website, especially for young people."
