High Peak Borough Council is warning that certain batches of Marca Pina Soy Sauce (1 litre) have been contaminated with levels of 3-monochloropropan-1, 2-diol (3-MCPD), which is above European Union (EU) statutory limits.
The maximum permitted limit for 3-MCPD is 0.02mg/kg, which is enforced under the Contaminants in Food (England) Regulations 2006. These Regulations provide the enforcement mechanism for EC Regulation 466/2001.
The label of the affected brand of soy sauce states that the Pinakamasarap Corporation manufactured the product in the Philippines.
The affected batches are contained in plastic 1-litre bottles with a yellow cap and red labelling, with the following best before dates: 07 02 2007, 05 12 07, 04 2007, End 08 2006,
08/30/2007, 10 05 07, and 07 12 07.
The council would like people to return any affected products to the supplier. They should also notify High Peak Borough Council Environmental Health Officers on 0845 129 77 77.
