Mobile Resource Centre visits Buxton

Date: 17/07/2006

The Midlands Engineering Industries Redeployment Group (MEIRG), new mobile resource centre paid a visit to Buxton last Wednesday.

The centre provides access to a range of support services for employers and employees from all engineering and manufacturing sectors.

Visitors to the centre, which parked up on the Pavilion Gardens promenade, received employment advice and assistance with redeployment and secondment opportunities. Staff at the mobile unit also provided funding advice to people interested in training in an engineering discipline.

MEIRG is working in close partnership with High Peak Borough Council and the Peak District Rural Action Zone Pathfinder project to improve access to manufacturing support services in the High Peak. This follows the recent establishment of a Manufacturing Task Force set up to specifically support the sector which accounts for nearly one in four jobs within the borough.

Councillor Alan Wells, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Member for Economic Regeneration, said: "The mobile resource centre is an excellent example of how by working with our partners we can improve access to manufacturing support services in the High Peak."

The centre will be moving throughout the High Peak over the coming few months. Further details can be found by contacting High Peak Borough Economic Development on 0845 129 77 77.
