Regular recyclers across the High Peak have been rewarded with a big KISS for their sustained efforts to help conserve the earth's precious resources.
Ten householders who regularly put out their recyclable waste for kerbside collection or use recycling centres have each been awarded £50 in the Kerbside Incentive Scheme (KISS), monitored by High Peak Borough Council.
The Borough Council launched the scheme with support from Derbyshire County Council to reward residents who regularly recycle cans, bottles, paper and textiles or take their recyclable material and plastic bottles to sites throughout the High Peak.
Some of the lucky winners received their prizes from Councillor Glynis Kirk, the Borough's Executive Member for the Environment, and Councillor Brian Lucas, the County Council's cabinet member for sustainable communities, on the Promenade, Buxton during the town's Carnival weekend, on Saturday July 15.
"All these residents are to be congratulated for keeping up their commitment to the environment by recycling waste material on a regular basis," said Councillor Kirk. "I hope they, and other householders across the borough, will continue to support our efforts to collect and re-use the earth's resources in a responsible way."
Added Councillor Lucas: "It's great that so many people in the High Peak are recycling their rubbish. But we want to see even more people getting involved and making the most of the recycling facilities on their doorsteps."
Names of people who regularly put out material for recycling or use recycling centres were entered in a secret prize draw and addresses were then picked out at random.
