Media studies students at Glossopdale Community College visited the Pennine View Care home last week to interview residents and record their account of life in Glossop's Mills.
The interviews will feature in the video created by Glossop Heritage Centre, working in partnership with Glossop Vision and have been awarded grant funding from the Local Heritage Initiative - a partnership between the Heritage Lottery Fund, Nationwide Building Society and the Countryside Agency. The video will also feature information on local churches, trams and trains, sport and leisure, customs and traditions as well as language. The video will be available to purchase from Glossop Heritage Centre in the autumn later this year.
Local film company, Mannmade Productions, is helping the youngsters with the project. The team has already completed test shots and training in editing techniques.
John Hart, Chair of Glossop Vision Board said: "We would like to express our thanks to the staff and residents at the Pennine View Care Home for their help with this project. Without their contributions we would not be able to fully appreciate our local heritage."
