Whaley Bridge is getting a paint make over with funding from High Peak Borough Council's Going Local initiative and Whaley Bridge Regeneration Partnership.
The railings on Buxton Road alongside the canal basin will be repainted using funds allocated by Central Area Forum as part of the' Going Local' programme. Painting will also take place in the town centre along Market Street and around the station including railings beside the road, bins and benches, funded by Whaley Bridge Regeneration Partnership.
Councillor Andrew Bingham, Chair of Central Area Forum said: "The new paintwork will help freshen up the approach to the town and help local businesses by making the town centre more attractive to local shoppers and visitors."
Councillor Linda Leather, Chair of Whaley Bridge Regeneration Partnership said: "This along with other initiatives such as the 'On Track' youth project at the station and pilot Farmers' Market are trying to encourage people to go into the town centre to shop and socialise."
The 'Going Local' Initiative forms part of the Area Forum programme covering all of High Peak Borough. Each Forum area has been allocated an improvement fund of £10,000 to be implemented over the summer months with a focus on 'Cleaner, Greener, Safer' themes.
