There were winners from all around the High Peak in this year's Garden Competition run by High Peak Community Housing for its tenants.
Sharon McCambridge, Chief Executive of High Peak Community Housing, and Tenant Forum member Derek Dunn presented the prizes on Friday 28 July at Cromford Court in Whaley Bridge, where a spread of tea and cakes was laid on.
The judges - Brian and June Brookes, Keith Wood, Derek Dunn and Teresa Bellamy - are all HPCH tenants, and they toured the impressive entries for two days, taking photographs and notes, before finally picking the following winners, who all also received certificates:
1st prize - Shirley Collier of Meadow Close, Dove Holes - prize:£125 in vouchers.
2nd prize - Mr and Mrs Sharp of Merseybank Road, Hadfield - prize: £75 in vouchers.
3rd prize - Mr Eric Batters of Matthew Close, Tintwistle - prize: £50 in vouchers.
Marion Court, Buxton - prize: £100 in vouchers.
Runner up - Cromford Court, Whaley Bridge - prize: £50 in vouchers.
Milton Court - prize: £75 in vouchers.
Anita's Fun Garden, at Cromford Court - prize: £30 in vouchers.
Ruth Waterhouse of Charlesworth Crescent, Furness Vale - prize: £50 in vouchers.
Runner up - Mrs Wildgoose of Ferneydale Avenue, Harpur Hill - prize: £25 in vouchers.
Mrs Garner of Shirley Close, Hope - prize: £75 in vouchers
Runner up - Mr Howard of Swallow House Lane, Hayfield - prize: £25 in vouchers.
"Once again the judges faced a difficult decision as the standard was high." said Derek Dunn, on behalf of the judges. "Our tenants have shown what can be done to brighten up the neighbourhood and we look forward to working with them to improve their gardens and public open spaces over the next year."
