Local sports groups have benefited from projects costing £9,366 - thanks to the sports development team at High Peak Borough Council.
Over the last six months, the council has supported 10 clubs and 12 individual coaches, by providing initial funding of £2,090. This has enabled the recipients to improve and increase coaching for young people and purchase new equipment, through match-funding schemes.
The successful clubs include Whaley Bridge Cricket Club, Buxton Rugby Club, Buxton Sea Cadets, Chapel Bowling Club, Manor Park Bowling Club and Glossop Velo Cycling Club.
Councillor Andrew Bingham, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Member for Social Community Development, said: "The council aims to support and enable a range of sporting and community activities - especially for young people. It is good to see that the sports development initiative is having such a positive impact on local clubs and therefore the wider community."
